Billing and quotas
What counts as a quote request on your plan, where to see your usage, what buyers see at the limit, and how changing or cancelling a plan works.
This article explains what your plan counts, how to see where you stand, and what happens when you reach your limit or change plan. The short version: you pay for buyers who get a price, not for buyers who fiddle with one.
What counts as a quote request
A quote request is the first successful price of a part in a buyer’s session. That is the unit your plan counts.
These do not count again:
- the buyer changing quantity, quality, material or finish, which re-prices from geometry already measured;
- viewing the part, rotating it, or turning on the thickness map;
- a page that shows the widget without anyone using it;
- a quote you open in your own console;
- anything a test widget does, and anything you try in the simulator or the backtest.
See where you are
Billing → Plan and usage shows the quote requests used this period against your plan’s allowance, and when the count resets. Analytics breaks them down per day and per configuration.
Under Billing → Billing details and alerts you choose when we e-mail you: by default at 50 %, 80 % and 100 % of your allowance, once per threshold per period. You can add extra addresses there, and team members can subscribe under Settings → Team.
What happens at the limit
It depends on your plan. What matters most is what your buyer sees.
| Plan policy | What happens past the allowance |
|---|---|
| Soft block | The widget keeps working and switches to collecting requests for quote. A buyer never sees an error; you get an inbox of enquiries instead of silence. |
| Metered | Pricing continues, and the extra quote requests are billed on your next invoice at your plan’s rate. |
Change plan
When you choose a plan, the console shows the new price, what is due today and why, and when the change applies.
- Moving up applies at once.
- Moving down is scheduled for the end of your paid period, and you can take it back with Keep plan until then. It is allowed only while you fit inside the smaller plan’s limits: the console tells you what you would have to remove first, and never removes anything for you.
Test mode is free
A test widget never uses quota. Use one on a staging site without thinking about it.
What is not charged for
Storage within your plan’s allowance. Configurations. Users, up to your seat count. The analysis of a file that fails: if we could not measure it, we do not bill for it.
Invoices and VAT
Invoices are in the console under Billing → Invoices and payments, with your VAT identifier on them if you have entered one. Enterprise plans can be invoiced against a purchase order instead of a card.
If you cancel
Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. Your shop then continues on the Free plan, and your configurations and history are kept. The configuration export is the JSON document the engine reads, not a report about it, so what you take with you is usable.
